Weddings, Baptisms & Confirmations

We welcome those who wish to involve the love and blessings of God in their significant life events.

We believe that marriage is a gift from God, a lifelong commitment of mutual love and one of the greatest joys of life. Today more than a quarter of all marriages in England between a man and a woman take place in the traditional setting of a Church of England church and at Christ Church we would love to help you plan both for your wedding day and for your life together.

If you would like to enquire about holding your wedding here, please contact the parish office on 020 8449 0832 or email us.

Getting married at christ church

You can get married at Christ Church if one of you is resident within the parish boundary, or if one of you has a legally defined qualifying connection with Christ Church. The most common connections are;

  • either or both of you were baptised here;
  • either or both of you have previously lived within the parish;
  • either or both of you have been regularly worshipping here for six months or more;
  • the parents of either of you were married here, or lived within the parish, or attended public worship here for at least six months.

How can I find out which parish I live in?
You can find out which parish you live in by contacting your nearest Anglican (Church of England) church, or by checking on the following website:  A Church Near You

If one of you has previously been married and divorced it is possible to have a service of blessing in church. Do contact us for details.

Does the Church have resources to help with wedding planning?
If you are looking for resources or guidance on planning a church wedding, the Church of England has a website specifically for this purpose. Click on the image below to go to the site:

BAPTISMS & confirmations

It’s an amazing moment when a child is born and we find ourselves thanking God for his goodness.  We, as a church family, want to celebrate this significant period in your life by providing an opportunity to pray and bless you as you move into the next season of your life.  This is not the same as a baptism (there’s no water and vows involved!) but if interested in this then please talk to the Vicar, Andy Rimmer or the Church Office.

Infant Baptism

Baptism is a way of publicly starting a journey of faith for your child, where you and your child's Godparents make promises to God, on your child's behalf, as God welcomes your child into His family. It is important for at least one parent and three Godparents to be baptised. We baptise children and babies in the 10.30am service. Come along to a morning service to join us, and introduce yourselves after the service.

Adult baptism and Confirmation

In an adult baptism, you will make your own vows of commitment to God, supported by the church. For those who were baptised as infants and wish to confirm their baptism vows for themselves, we hold confirmation services once a year.

If you live within the parish, are a member of the congregation or have a connection with the church and would like your child to be baptised, or would like to be baptised yourself, please contact the Church Office office on 020 8449 0832, or talk to the Vicar Andy Rtmmer, or email us.
