Sundays at Christ Church
We have three Sunday services: 8:00am, 10:30am and 7:00pm. Each has a different style.
If you are coming for the first time, please introduce yourself to a welcomer or a member of the clergy, as we would love to meet you. We have a welcome desk just inside the church and you'll always find someone there after the 10.30am service who can answer questions and provide information about church activities.
8:00am holy communion
The 8:00am service is a quiet Holy Communion using the traditional words of the Book of Common Prayer (BCP). We gather in the chancel of the church to take part in this 45 minute service without music and the peaceful atmosphere is very conducive to spiritual reflection.
10:30am morning service
This is our main service of the week. Most Sunday mornings, the whole church family joins together for the start of the service. After the first few minutes, the children and youth aged 3-14 leave for their own programme of activities in fun and busy groups, and the service often takes on a more reflective air. The elements of worship, prayer, confession, creed, bible readings, offering and sermon are included. The sermon is usually about 20-25 minutes long and the style and content varies widely as we seek to know God better and grow as disciples of Jesus.
Holy Communion is held at 10:30 am on the second Sunday of each month. We welcome all those who love the Lord Jesus and have made a public profession of faith in confirmation, or adult baptism, to participate in bread and wine, but we welcome everyone to come forward for a blessing at the communion rail.
Family Services On some Sundays the children and youth stay in church and together we participate in an all age service. Our aim is for everyone, youngest to oldest, to feel they are part of our church family, and to encounter God in a way that is appropriate for them.
After the 10:30 am service everyone is invited to stay and chat over tea and coffee.
Prayer Ministry Members of the prayer team are available after the service to pray with you if you wish.
Recordings of all sermon/talks from the 10.30am services can be found here
7:00PM evening service
The 7:00pm service is less formal, with more emphasis on band lead worship. Members of the congregation are sometimes asked to share testimonies about how God has been working in their lives. This helps us understand that God is as active, interested and relevant today as He was in the past and will be in the future.
Holy Communion is held at 7:00 pm on the fourth Sunday of each month.
